With nearly 14 million people unemployed and another 11 million underemployed and looking for full-time jobs, creating jobs is America’s most urgent need. At the same time, our infrastructure is crumbling. Our classrooms and clinics are overcrowded. Our education, transportation, and energy systems are in serious need of upgrades.
So why not create jobs to boost our economy in the short term and improve our infrastructure, efficiency, and global competitiveness in the long run?
Unfortunately, too many members of Congress seem to be missing the big picture. They would have us believe our nation can’t afford to invest in job creation and infrastructure improvements. Don’t they get it? We’ll never grow our economy and reduce the deficit until we put America back to work.
America’s not broke. We have more than enough money to create good jobs for all – as long as corporations and the rich do their part and pay their fair share of taxes. Corporations are sitting on nearly $2 trillion in stockpiled profits instead of creating good American jobs, while big businesses and billionaires continue to reap the benefits of generous tax give-aways.
Dozens of job-creating proposals are idling in Congress right now. Let’s get them moving! You can help – by posting a photo of work that needs doing, sending a message to Congress, and asking your friends, family, and neighbors to do the same.
Take a picture of work that needs doing in your community. It can be anything from a crumbling bridge to a rundown school to a neglected park or playground.
